My Questionaire

This is my questionnaire, in which i have asked 4 questions asking whether they think Lady gaga and Taylor Swift have religious beliefs and why do they think this.

Taylor Swift’s Religion

Taylor Swift is a christian as she refers to God in many of her songs such as; “Our Song; ‘And when I got home, before I said amen/ I asked God if He could play it again’. She also graduated from the Aaron Academy, a Christian school in Tennessee, and interestingly has given $250,000 to Christian schools around the country.

In Taylor Swift song’s there is a positive reflection of Christianity – God will always be there for her, and she give thanks to God for her life, and awards.

In her music video, Love Story, she mentions ‘marriage’ and ‘getting her daddy’s permission to wed her romeo’ – This is very fairy tale like, and also very christian like.

Lady Gaga Religion

Lady gaga is a strict catholic who believes in god. She also believes in LBGT (Lesbian, Bi-sexual, Gay, and Transsexual)

In her music video for Judas, many people agree, that ‘Judas’ could also be seen as ‘Jesus’. When listening to the lyrics, she talks about how she’s irresistibly in love with ‘Judas’ but at the same time, she knows he is bad for her. Lots of people think that Lady Gaga’s secret meaning in this song, is although she believes in God, she doesn’t want to.

I’ve picked, Lady Gaga’s ‘religious’ single called ‘Judas’ to compare against the video of Taylor Swifts Love Story.

Both music videos are completely different to each other, and i’m going to research more into this.

Taylor Swift Video

I’ve picked Taylor Swift’s first music video: Love Story. I’ve picked this video, because she’s represented as pure, and right – not flaunting herself, and sticking close to the church; getting married, and its showing young girls some self respect.

MS3 Project Idea

I’m looking at: ‘How women represent Religion in Music Videos’.

My key areas of focus are;

1. Issues linked to the representation of religion in female Music Videos?

2. Evidence of issues? Madonna, and

3. How do women portray anti-christ in Music Videos? RAP videos

4. Compare 2 different female music videos – Taylor Swift + Lady Gaga

5. Conspiracies in music videos; Illumanti, Religious (Christianity or Anti Christ) etc

6. What conclusion can i take from my research?
